Two heroes, each from a different section of society. When they meet, there’s a lot of emotional interplay. This storyline is what impressed Telugu star Nagarjuna and namma Karthi to sign up for PVP Cinema’s Tamil-Telugu bilingual film to be directed by Vamsi Paidipally, who has earlier delivered hits such as Brindavanam and Yevadu in Telugu.
Karthi has been receiving feelers from the Telugu industry for long, but was waiting for the “right” project. And, Nagarjuna is familiar with Tamil audiences; he has left many breathless since Mani Ratnam’s Gitanjali.
Karthi, all smiles after the success of Madras , says the bilingual provides him a great opportunity to work with someone of the calibre of Nagarjuna. “It’s going to be a learning experience and challenging too. So far, I was just dubbing in Telugu. Now, I’ll have to not just render dialogues but also emote in another language. Since it’s a bilingual, it also means acting twice over, but I am excited about it,” he says.
Rajeev Kamineni, executive director, PVP Cinema, says the film is planned on the lines of a commercial family entertainer.
"Both Nag and Karthi loved the story and came on board,” he says. Karthi is currently shooting for Komban in Ramnad. The production house zeroed in on Nag and Karthi because they wanted to bring together “a combination of actors who had not collaborated before, and who appealed to both the classes and masses”.
A substantial portion of the film will be shot abroad, says Rajeev, and adds, “It’s a great team we have put together. We are aiming for a late summer 2015 release.”
