National award winning actor and film-maker Kamal Haasan, in an official press release from his production house Rajkamal Films International on Thursday announced that his film Vishwaroopam would be released in theatres on January 25 .

“Based on the unstinted support of theatre owners and distributors fraternity, Vishwaroopam will release in over 500 screens across the State of Tamil Nadu,” Kamal said in the press release.

“I appreciate the exhibitors and distributors brethren for having understood my vision for creating a new revenue stream for the film producing community through DTH,” he added.

The press release however, does not mention, whether the movie would be released as a special show on the direct-to-home platform on the same day as the release in theatres, as Kamal had hinted during his interaction with the media on Wednesday.

The team handling the public relations for Kamal Haasan said the announcement with regard to the release on the DTH platform would be made only after his discussions with the DTH partners.
