Two minutes after conversing with Kannada actor Kishore, the onscreen Veerappan who’s now playing the lead role in the Telugu movie Dalam and a negative character in Krishnam Vande Jagudguram , you wonder if he is really cut out for a villain’s role. His voice is low and talks gently. He too agrees that a lot of people told him that it was difficult to imagine him as an aggressive person. A professor of Kannada literature in a women’s college in Bengaluru, Kishore had even worked under fashion designer Vidyasagar, a professor from IIFT before setting his eyes on the industry.
His debut in cinema happened with Kanti (Kannada) in 2004, which also won him the Karnataka State Award for the ‘Best Supporting Actor’. After acting in a couple of Kannada films, he then worked in Polladhavan and there was no looking back. He says initially he found the roles of a baddie monotonous but now the scenario has changed, he is being offered a range of characters and the career graph had been good. Now in the ninth year of movies, the talented actor says, “We all work for money but I am not a greedy person. Once I’m satisfied I relax. I don’t hunt for roles.”
Kishore was supposed to play a positive role, an important one in Krishnam Vande Jagadguram but it was changed in the last moment to a negative character, it is now a tiny but a key role. He signs off, “A lot of things in life happen by chance. If I had not done well in films my chance to work in more films would have been dropped.”
