Director Puri Jagannadh's Telugu film Businessman , starring Mahesh Babu and Kajal Agarwal, has just released all over Tamil Nadu. Its music director Thaman S is ecstatic that one of the six songs in the film, ‘Sarostharra,' sung by him and Suchitra, has taken the sales of the music album to dizzy heights. “In fact, Aditya Music is awarding a Platinum Disc status to the album,” says Thaman. “The song is in the hip-hop style and suits the character played by Mahesh Babu in the film. Incidentally, Businessman is also releasing in Tamil and Malayalam on January 26.”
Thaman's career as a music director is on a roll. In recent times, his songs for Osthe and Mounaguru have been well-appreciated by Tamil film fans. “Meanwhile, I am looking forward to the audio release of Kaadhalil Sodappuvadu Eppadi , starring Siddarth and Amala Paul,” informs Thaman, who made his acting debut along with Siddarth in Shankar's Boys . “Nakul is yet another friend whose film Vallinam has my music. The film, directed by Arivazhagan, is keenly looked forward to by film goers,” says Thaman.
Remember the Malayalam film Bodyguard, which was subsequently made in Tamil and Hindi? Now, the Telugu version is getting ready for release, starring Venkatesh and Trisha. And, Thaman has scored six songs for this film. “Fortunately, I have not seen the earlier versions and have not been influenced by the songs or the song sequences while composing for the Telugu version. Consequently, I feel the songs have a fresh feel, and one of them, ‘Yavvaro Yavvaro' by Karthik, has become a super hit with the masses,” says Thaman.
From playing a drummer in Boys to making the heroes and heroines dance to his tunes, Thaman has been steadily climbing up the success ladder in both the Tamil and Telugu film industries. He has chosen his projects well and has been literally burning the midnight oil to give his directors what they want, adding value to their films.
