Debutant director Aneesh Anwar has set the story of his film ‘Mullamottum Munthiricharum' amidst a rural backdrop. The shooting of the film with Indrajith, Thilakan, Ananya, and Meghna Raj in the lead roles, is underway inside a modest hospital in the suburbs of Thodupuzha.
The shot being canned has Indrajith, who plays a hard nut named Churatta Jose, walking into the frame and looking at a Christian priest standing in the corner of a passage. Thilakan enacts the role of the priest.
Cinematographer Sujith Vasudev goes in for a trolley shot as the make-up man gives the artistes a minor touch-up on their faces before the action starts.
Doing odd jobs
“Churatta Jose is the village odd-jobs man. His house is close to the church but he is almost always seen inside a toddy shop. Although the priest and Jose exchange harsh words whenever they meet, in reality, they share an affectionate bond.
“Jose's father, Chandy, was a local goon who handed over the documents of his land to build the church. The priest does not want to return the documents as he knows that Jose will sell the remaining land if he get his hands on them,” says Aneesh, who has assisted directors such as Joshiy, Bhadran, Raj Babu, and Leo Thaddeus.
“However, due to a peculiar twist, Jose finds himself looking after the welfare of two families. In the meantime, there is also an interesting love triangle happening, involving Jose, Ranimol (Ananya), and Suchitra (Meghna Raj).”
Indrajith seems gung ho about his character.
“He is almost always drunk and will take virtually any risk for money. However, he is loved by all, including the cops,” says Indrajith, during a break in the shoot.
‘Mullamottum Munthiricharum' is being produced by Jyothirgamaya. Lyrics by Kaithapram and Engandiyoor Chandrasekharan have been composed by Mohan Sithara.
