He's someone who revels in sharing screen space with other actors. Remember “Azhagiya Theeye” (with Prakash Raj) and “Anjaathey” (Naren)? He takes one more journey down his favourite lane with “Naanayam”, where Sibi and he indulge in a cat-and-mouse game.
Prasanna plays the chief security officer of a bank, whose overriding goal in life is to become a big man and get his father, who was once derided and scolded for minor errors, membership in the golf club in Kodaikanal where he was once manager. One day, Sibi intrudes into his ambition-filled life, turning it upside down.
So, do we finally get to see the suave Prasanna flying through the air and landing choice blows on Sibi? “Not exactly,” he laughs. “We do have some fights, but nothing gravity-defying. It's more a fight between minds.” Playing Prasanna's pair is Ramya Raj.
So, what was it like working with Sibi? “Well, he is my first best friend in the industry; I met Sibi at a fight class in the Nandanam YMCA. It was fun working with him. Sadly, we don't do too many multi-starrers here. It is wonderful working with fellow actors. Also, once you do a multi-starrer, people tend to slot you, and believe you can't carry a film on your shoulders,” says the actor, whose last outing at the turnstiles, “Achamundu Achamundu”, won both critical and commercial acclaim.
Prasanna says “Naanayam”, directed by Shakti S. Rajan and produced by S.P. Charan, will be a quality film which is great technically; it also boasts style and content in a genre never handled before in Tamil cinema. Another class act? “I really don't know what excites the masses, but I believe this film will cater to all audiences,” says the actor, who's gone through yet another makeover for this film. “I must give credit to the technical team and stylist Vasuki Bhaskar, who's the reason Sibi and I look the way we do.”
After “Naanayam”, Prasanna moves on to “Muran”, produced by Cheran and directed by long-time friend and Mysskin associate Rajan Madhavan. And, yes, he does plan to go commercial some day.
