Actors Arya, Vijay Sethupathy and Shaam get together for director S.P. Jhananathan’s Purampokku

In a healthy move towards multi-starrers, director S.P. Jhananathan announced that actor Shaam will be joining Arya and Vijay Sethupathy for his next film Purampokku. The three actors recently came together for a promotional photo-shoot.

“I am very excited to be part of Jhananathan’s film again — we had plans to do a sequel for Iyarkkai, but it didn’t happen. This is also my second film with Arya, but we are not friends in this film,” says Shaam.

Jhananathan says Purampokku is a political thriller in which people with different political ideologies come face-to-face. “Arya plays a political activist. The film is an exploration of different ideologies that people have in the modern world. All points of views will have equal representation in the film,” he says.

Novel idea

Both Arya and Vijay Sethupathy are not strangers when it comes to appearing in multi-starrers. “It is a very novel film, strongly driven by its characters. The film requires three heroes,” says Arya.

Vijay Sethupathy says that he agreed to do this film because he was impressed with Jhananathan’s previous works. “I loved his earlier films such as Peranmai and E. It is extremely difficult to evoke empathy for a character such as E. Purampokku is an excellent script,” he says.

The shooting for Purampokku is all set to begin this month.
