Six movies at Portuguese Film Festival to be held in the city from July 15 to 18

The Indo Cine Appreciation Foundation, in association with the Instituto Camoes, Lisbon, and the Embassy of Portugal, Cultural Centre, New Delhi, organises the Portuguese Film Festival. As many as six films directed by João Botelho, António Ferreira, João Nuno Pinto, Pedro Caldas and João Nicolau will be screened at the event. The festival will be held from July 15 to 18 at the Russian Centre of Science & Culture, No. 74, Kasturi Ranga Road, Alwarpet. For more information, call 2821-2652.

The Northern Land (July 15, 6.30 p.m.) follows a young woman who becomes obsessed with finding the true story of a distant ancestor, a noblewoman who scandalised society

Embargo (July 16, 6.15 p.m.) revolves around a man who has invented a foot scanner, but becomes mysteriously confined to his car and finds his life suddenly embargoed

Disquiet (July 16, 7.45 p.m.) is set in present-day Lisbon, and narrates how a man invents dreams and theorises about them

America (July 17, 6.15 p.m.) is a love triangle involving three married people. Throw in a six-year-old kid, a violent storm, hope, love and a fake passport for a thriller

Civil War (July 17, 8 p.m.) is not the story about a country, but about the breaking down of a family

The Sword And The Rose (July 18, 6.15 p.m.) provides an insight on how freedom can ruin peace and push one to destruction
