The 2009 edition of the International Film Festival of India (IFFI), which is held annually in Goa, will showcase a special section on films of war and peace.

“This section will comprise of five to six anti-war films. All the films in this section would be unique,” Manoj Srivastava, Chief Executive Officer, Entertainment Society of Goa (ESG), told PTI.

“War and peace are most relevant subjects in current scenario. Look at the situation in Pakistan, Afghanistan, Iraq, Bosnia and Somalia, scene is grim everywhere and people are suffering. In the entire mess, humanity suffers. This section will screen cinema which examines this subject,” Mr. Srivastava said.

ESG will also be responsible for sections like short film centre, a country focus, a retrospective and special section on war and peace, he said.

Besides, it will also curate Indian premiers section, details of which are being worked out, he added.
