It is heart warming to see directors make their debut and dish out hits even without working as an intern or an assistant director for any prominent production house. We saw Maruthi who made small films for a political party and directed two successful films Ee Rojullo and Bus Stop . Now director Madan Kumar is releasing his maiden movie Yaaruda Mahesh in Tamil and Telugu simultaneously in February. Pizza director Karthik Subramanyam too had no experience. All it takes is a huge amount of confidence and complete belief in the script.

Armed with a master’s degree in International Business and a passion to make a film that put on the backburner, Madan set up an ad agency called Finger Print and dabbled with television commercials and corporate films; his friends supported him in making his dream come true. Madan says, “My friends were running a post-production studio called RED. I showed them the bound script and they found it interesting. It is about a lazy character (played by Sundeep Kishan) falling in love with a girl, he is also on the look out for a person called Mahesh. I can’t reveal much because if I talk about one scene the entire plot will come out.”

Madan says Yaaruda Mahesh has nothing to do with Wake Up Sid . The post production is on and he is equally excited about the dubbed Telugu version. The film got a positive buzz and there have been plenty of enquiries. He quips, “The trailers and promos on the audio launch and also on the Youtube got a good response. No one knew anything about me or the movie before the audio launch. It is a total romantic comedy, we saw the complete film during the re-recording and the output matched our expectations. I obviously can’t name the film Yevadu Mahesh because in Andhra Pradesh Mahesh Babu is a super star. There were suggestions about having Mahesh followed by a question mark (‘Mahesh?’) but we weren’t too sure about it. Initially I started off with a shoestring budget but it went out of my control but I guess it isn’t too bad. Yaaruda Mahesh stems from my total imagination, not inspiration or observation." He adds, "We shot for 15 days in Hyderabad and major shoot took place in Kerala and Chennai. My next script is also ready. I saw Shor In The City and roped in Sundeep Kishan; Dimple can speak many languages and has a theatre background too."
