Bigger the better

With every passing day, there's some news about “Kochadaiyaan”. The buzz is that the star cast is all set to expand, as there are plans to rope in Katrina Kaif for the lead, and Aadhi and Shobana for significant roles. Just as importantly, Rajinikanth is gearing up to begin the shoot by next month, as is the rest of the cast and crew. Meanwhile, more big names may join this flick — directed by the Superstar's daughter Soundarya Ashwin, and with music by A.R. Rahman.

Hitting the jackpot

Star Vijay had a huge role in setting the trend for dubbing English language films in Tamil for the television. Now, looks like they will set another trend of sorts — bagging the telecast rights for just-released Tamil films. For starters, they have the rights of Pongal hits Shankar's “Nanban” and Lingusamy's “Vettai”. Last heard, other television channels are keeping their fingers crossed, as these two films may shortly hit the small screen.

Smiles all the way

Chennai girls Praveena and Prashanthi can't stop beaming, and why not! They beat nearly 100 participants to act alongside Ramya Krishnan in Sun Netwrok's serial “Thangam”. Says Ramya Krishnan: “The participants were from different parts of Tamil Nadu, including Chennai, Coimbatore, Madurai and Tiruchi. All of them were very capable, and we had a tough time short-listing the 15. The chosen two are gifted and spontaneous actors.”
