Double delight

Vadivelu is very excited about his forthcoming “Ulagam” — he gets to play 25 roles in the film! “It's a film different in many ways — for one, it's 3D,” says Vadivelu. The multi-lingual will be released in Tamil, Telugu, Kannada, Malayalam and Hindi. Directed by Adam Bava, the film does not have dialogues in the first half, and has 12 heroines and 15 villains. The shooting is planned across 45 countries, says the director. And, Vadivelu is also excited that he was part of five box-office hits in Tamil last year, among the 10. And, to think over 100 films released last year!

Twice as nice

Actor Malavika Avinash is on cloud nine. She is the recipient of Kalaimamani (2009) and Best Actor in a Negative Role for her performance in ‘Arasi' (2008). A delighted Malavika says: “I've done nearly 25 films in Kannada, Tamil and Malayalam, and over a dozen serials in Kannada and Tamil. I entered Tamil films with ‘Jay Jay', and television with ‘Anni'. I was thrilled when K. Balachander congratulated me.”

Cooking up a performance

All that Dhanush will get for his role in upcoming “Seedan” is a couple of dhothis and shirts. “I'm glad I'm doing this film for director Subramaniyam Siva, because he's talented and meticulous — I had to work only for 22 days!” Dhanush is said to have requested the director to let him sport a towel on the shoulder, as he's noticed many cooks that way. The actor was pleased that the director not only agreed to it, but also praised him for having done his homework!
