Actor Ram Kapoor, whose show Bade Acche Lagte Hain has given him a second chance at television, has been handpicked by none other than Mira Nair for a role in her next film, which is part of a collection of short films. Ram has worked with the acclaimed director earlier in Monsoon Wedding. The actor, last seen on the big screen in films such as Ek Main Aur Ek Tu and Agent Vinod, will also be seen in Karan Johar’s Student Of The Year.

Kristina's new adventure

The Australian model of Russian descent, Kristina Akheeva, who has reportedly been scouting for work in Bollywood for a while now, has landed the Deols’ film Yamla Pagla Deewana 2 (YPD 2 ). The model has been the face of several ads globally. Now it’s time for some serious work with YPD 2. The first schedule begins in the U.K. from September.

Everyone’s best man

Actor Nawazuddin Shaikh is having a good run in Bollywood. Ace directors are waiting to sign him on and, after making headlines on working with Bipasha Basu in the supernatural thriller Aatma , Nawaz has been hand-picked by Ketan Mehta to act in his forthcoming Mountain Man , a biopic on a Bihar-based labourer, who completed the Herculean task of cutting a road through a mountain. Nawaz, who was recently seen in Gangs Of Wasseypur and Kahaani , hails from a village in Uttar Pradesh. He has in his kitty Dekh Indian Circus, Chittagong and Miss Lovely , all films that are expected to take the road less travelled.
