Kirukkalgal on CD
When it was released many years ago, actor-director R. Parthepan’s book Kirukkalgal disappeared off bookstore shelves in a jiffy. Small wonder, over 30 lakh copies were sold in a couple of years. And now, Parthepan has released a CD that contains his readings of a few poems selected from the book. “Since the whole book could not be accommodated on a CD, I decided to select a few of my favourite poems. Veena player Rajesh Vaidhya and musicians Nivas and Prasanna too have lent their musical touch to the CD,” he says. Apparently, those who have listened to CD have appreciated the effort behind it.
Duo returns
Wit and sarcasm abounds when actors Manivannan and Sathyaraj come together, and their Amaidhippadai was ample proof of this. And, the two will come together again for the film’s sequel Nagaraja Chozan M.A. MLA. Manivannan wields the megaphone after a long time for this film that also features Seeman, Raghuvannan, Varsha, Mirudhula, and Komal Sharma. He will also shortly begin work on his next project Thaalaatu Machi Thaalaatu, featuring his son Raghuvannan as the hero. Says Manivannan, “The film featuring my son is a campus story. The shoot will commence once I finalise the location.”
Wielding the megaphone
Here’s the most recent entrant to the film industry from Ilaiyaraaja’s family. The music director’s brother’s (Pavalar Varadarajan) son Jo V is all set to direct Naalu Perum Romba Nallavanga. The film is said to revolve around three thieves who meet an honest person. The cast includes ‘Powerstar’ Srinivasan, Suresh, Yasin, Balaji, Thirupathi, Snehal and Dhisha. The film’s music is by Yuvan Shankar Raja.
Thriller time
P izza was a sleeper hit, and not surprisingly, the producers are gearing up for its sequel. Thiru Kumaran Entertainment, which had also produced Attakathi , is now working on Pizza 2 — The Villa . Directed by Deepan Chakravarthy, the thriller will have music by Santhosh Narayanan. The lead will be played by Vaibhav and Sanchita. Meanwhile, the unit of another sleeper hit of 2012, Naduvula Konjam Pakkatha Kaanom is working on Idharkku Thaane Asaipattaai Balakumara with the same director, Balaji Tharaneetharan.
