Actor Shriya Saran

Actor Shriya Saran

Actor-director K. Bhagyaraj let us in on a little news that surprised him. He was the chief guest at the audio launch of Tamil film Soundarya, directed by Chandramohan. This film’s production company is also producing Palakkaattu Madhavan. Says Bhagyaraj: “I was thrilled when I got the news. Palakkaattu Madhavan from my film Andha Yezhu Naatkal is popular in both Tamil Nadu and Kerala. So, I’m waiting for the director to offer me a role in the film. I’m willing to do any role, but I want to be part of the film.”

Elegant moves

In Chandra, you’ll see Shriya Saran showing off new moves. In the film directed and produced by Roopa Iyer, the actor will wield a sword for Kalari, to be presented in the form of dance. So excited was Shriya that she took lessons from a martial arts teacher. Says the actor: “I wanted to perfect the art form, and took lessons from Sagar Asan for nearly two months. Choreographer Ravi Varma tweaked a few postures for dance. Kalari in itself has elegant moves, and combined with dance, it becomes even more visually enchanting.” The film’s cast includes Kannada actor Prem, Vivek and Ganesh Venkatraman.

Memorable birthday

Birthday gifts can be as memorable as they are precious. Actor Prasanna will agree. He says, “On my birthday, my wife (actor Sneha) and I went to a temple. After that, she took me to a school for the physically challenged. She had organised the lunch, we ate along with them and presented them with new clothes. It was an unforgettable birthday for me. And, with Sneha’s birthday falling in October, I’ve been looking for ideas to make her day special.”

Lots on the platter

Kajal Agarwal is on cloud nine. The actor who’s been paired with some of the top heroes in Tamil has plenty of big projects in her kitty now — including Maattrraan (with Suriya) and Thuppakki (Vijay) and one with Karthi. Just as importantly, the actor has bagged the lead role in cinematographer Ravi K. Chandran’s directorial debut Yaan. She’s paired with Jiiva in this trilingual (Tamil, Telugu and Hindi), produced by RS Infotainment. The buzz is that Sanjay Dutt may play an important role.
