After producing two films — Polladhavan and Aadukalam, both directed by Vetrimaran with Dhanush in the lead, Kathiresan who heads Five Star Movies, ropes in the actor for his next. Directed by Kalavani Sargunam, the film Nayyandi will see Nazriya paired opposite Dhanush. Another film by the producer will be directed by Karthik Subbaraj, who shot to fame with Pizza. Actor Siddharth is believed to play the lead in this untitled film.

YouTube to the rescue

The social media has become crucial to passionate filmmakers who don’t have the big bucks to pay for their films’ publicity. The director of Yaaruda Mahesh, Madhan Kumar knows this well. He can’t thank the founders of YouTube and social networks enough for the buzz these platforms have helped create around this film.

The trailer of the film, which suggests the film could probably be an adult comedy, has garnered close to 3,97,000 hits on YouTube. The number is increasing! “The trailer’s popularity has been overwhelming. It has helped us in the business too,” says Madhan Kumar whose film will be released by J. Anbazhagan of Anbu Pictures. How confident is the team of the acceptability of adult scenes in the film? “We have taken care to not alienate women audiences. It is a film that can be enjoyed by both men and women. The comedy will work with the young crowd.”

Voice for society

The director of Naan Rajavaaga Pogiren , Prithvi Rajkumar says he is impressed with the film’s lead Nakul’s drive to succeed. In the film, Nakul plays a 24-year-old who falls in love with a social activist. The story is about how he supports his girl friend when she stands up against local politicians. “It is a film that takes up serious issues. It’s my first film, and I want to make sure it is talked about even after 10 years. It is not a complicated film; I have tried to make it a reasonably entertaining action flick,” says the director.
