Beauty pageant winner Pooja Chopra who made her debut this week in action drama Commando with Vidyut Jammwal, the centre of all promotions with the ‘next action hero’ tag, says the film is the perfect platform for her. “I don’t think my character is marginalised in the action film. In fact, I form the crux of the story as the fight is actually between the girl and the villain. I got a chance to be cute and bubbly as well as strong and fiery in the same space. What more could I ask for?” she says.

Heals on wheels

Salman Khan had announced late last year that his production company Salman Khan Being Human (SKBH) Productions will be associated with films with a heart and a purpose. Now comes news that SKBH is co-producing Dr Cabbie to be directed by Canada’s Jean-Francois Poulliot (La Grande Seduction). The movie is about an immigrant cabbie who finds his calling as a doctor on wheels. The movie stars Vinay Virmani (Breakaway, David), Adrianne Palicki (GI JOE), Kunal Nayyar (Big Bang Theory), and Lillete Dubey. Newcomer Isabelle is also part of the film.

Of mature relationships

Earlier Ranbir Kapoor and Deepika Padukone’s film Yeh Jawaani Hai Deewani (YJHD) was in some danger of losing out on publicity because the lead stars are exes, and the other Deepika film, Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s Ram Leela with Ranvir Singh was gaining popularity because the actors were reportedly quite close. But the first look of Ayan Mukherji’s YJHD has put all fears to rest with the actors sharing a crackling chemistry. As promotions are gaining ground, we hear that Deepika is bracing herself for questions about their relationship with a ‘we are friends for life’ reply!
