Trafficed, thrice over
Mejo Joseph reasserted himself as a name to look out for with Traffic , and later went on to score the music for its Tamil remake, Chennaiyil Oru Naal , earlier this year.
Now he has composed the background score for the as-yet-untitled Hindi remake of the film. How does he keep the music fresh for each remake?
“At the end of the day it all depends on the visuals, because the music is there to support the visuals. And in the Hindi version, the background score will be an updated version of what audiences heard in the original.”
Mejo has some more projects lined up in Malayalam, debutant director Rejish Midhila’s Town 2 Town and the Jijo Antony-directed, Kunchacko Boban starrer Kondayum Poonoolum .
A different hangover this
Entertainers focused on the youth seem to be the norm nowadays, and the latest film to continue the trend is debutant director Sreejith Sukumaran’s Hangover , a tale of four friends and an adventure they share. Sreejith, who was an assistant director to veteran filmmaker Kamal, said during the audio release of the film that the movie revolves around an incident from his own life. Despite the name and number of protagonists, Sreejith says the film has nothing in common with the Hollywood film of the same name, “Hangover here refers to the after effect of a moment or event, like the hangover you experience after a great song or a great movie.”
The film has six songs scored my Mejo Joseph. Hangover stars Bhagath Manuel, Maqbool Salmaan, Shine Tom Chacko and Govind Krishna. Shritha Shivadas Ordinary and Archanaa Guptaa also appear in the film. Archanaa will be seen again with Shritha in Jinu G. Daniel’s upcoming romantic comedy Rasputin and with Shine in the Indrajith starrer Kaanchi .
