Vijay Yesudas has begun 2013 well with two chart toppers composed by A.R. Rahman for Mani Ratnam’s Kadal – ‘Chithirai Nela…’ and ‘Chitti Jaabili’. Although Vijay had sung the hit ‘Sahara’ in the movie Sivaji under Rahman’s baton, it was not featured in the film. But Vijay has no complaints. “Rahman sir knows what will suit a person’s voice and the song was a huge success.” He also has songs for several forthcoming Malayalam films while last year gifted him hits in Grandmaster , Ee Adutha Kalathu , Spirit (in which he sounded so much like his father, K.J. Yesudas), Run Baby Run , Thappana and so on. In the meantime, he turns composer for Sanjiv Sivan’s Arabian Safari . “We have held discussions in Chennai and I am looking forward to it. But my priority is singing. I have been getting good songs in Tamil and Malayalam thanks to music directors who have faith in me,” says Vijay.
Versatility is his middle name
Actor-writer Murali Gopy dons many caps at the same time. Having made his name as an actor and scriptwriter and winning several awards in the process, he now tests his musical skills in Arun Kumar Aravind’s new film Left Right Left . Murali sings the theme song of the film, which has been written by Rafeek Ahmed and directed by Gopi Sundar. Incidentally, Murali has written the script of the film and is also acting in it. Murali had sung in his Rasikan as well…Look like this versatile artiste has many more tricks up his sleeve.
