Temple trips
Actor Dhanush is shooting in Varanasi for his first Hindi film Raanjhnaa. Even before the shoot began, Dhanush apparently was busy learning Hindi. Directed by Anand Raj of Tanu Weds Manu-fame, this film has Sonam Kapoor paired opposite Dhanush. Since they will be in Varanasi for two months, Dhanush and his wife Aishwarya are making the most of it by visiting temples in around this holy town.
Birthday bash
Rajinikanth’s much-awaited film Kochadaiyaan is expected to release on his birthday — December 12 (12-12-12). The unit is planning to release the film’s audio in Tokyo next month, and have premieres in places such as the U.K., the U.S. and Japan. The television rights have been bagged by Jaya TV. For the audio launch, in addition to Rajinikanth, A.R. Rahman and Deepika Padukone, actor Ajith Kumar will be on the dais.
Old wine, new bottle
Looks like it’s the season of remakes! Director K. Bhagyaraj is said to be working on the remake of his Mundthanai Mudichui, a silver jubilee, which had Urvasi and Kovai Sarala in important roles. The buzz is that some of the actors from the original will have roles in the remake too. Meanwhile, director R. Parthepan is said to be planning a remake of his Pudthiya Paadthai with a few present-day actors. Both the directors are said to be working on the script to make it work for today’s audience.
