Divya Sathyaraj, daughter of well-known actor Sathyaraj and a counsellor by profession, seems to have made an interesting decision. She has chosen to be part of a short film on child labour that is being directed by Shirazi from Kolkata.
Says Shirazi: “I am directing and producing a film on child labour as it is a problem that continues to plague our society. It is acute in smaller towns; the awareness about the issue is better in bigger cities. People in rural areas believe they are doing children a favour by employing them. I have chosen Divya Sathyaraj to be part of the short film along with two 10-year-old boys from Koothu-p-Pattarai. We choose Divya as she is a counsellor and has done workshops with children on child labour.”
The film with a running time of 30 minutes will be in English. Says the director: “I hope to send it to Cannes and other international film festivals once I complete it.”
From a new angle
Tamil film directors don't stop with just exploring new destinations, they also experiment with new cameras. The latest to join this list of directors is actor Vijay Adhiraj, who is using the Sony F65 to shoot his film “Puthagam.”
Claims Vijay: “‘Puthagam' is the first film in Asia being shot with this camera. Laxman, my cameraman, suggested it as the Sony F65 has an 8k resolution and a 4K raw recording facility.”
The film stars Satya, actor Arya's younger brother, and Rakul Preet Singh in the lead.
