The boss is back and this time in 3D! Director Shankar's blockbuster Sivaji, the Boss , which was produced by AVM with Rajinikanth and Shriya in the lead, is to be re-released in 3D this year.

Talking to mediapersons after a screening of the trailer at the Prasad Labs on Monday, an excited Rajini said, “I did not know until recently that such an attempt was under way. I was so delighted that I even clapped while watching my own film.”

Stating that he was lucky to have been part of all three eras — black and white, colour and now 3D — the superstar said, “I don't plan anything. It’s all God's grace and I am thankful for it.”

In granddad’s footsteps

Two youngsters from the family of the legendary Sivaji Ganesan are keen to make an impact in Kollywood this year. While Vikram Prabhu, son of actor Prabhu, makes his debut with the Prabhu Solomon-directed Kumki , Sivaji Dev, son of Ramkumar, is acting in a film titled Nandanam , being helmed by N. C. Shiayamalan. Incidentally, Sivaji Dev made his debut with Singakutty , after which he went to London to pursue a course in acting. While Lakshmi Menon is the heroine of Kumki , Mitra Kurien, who played one of the heroines in the Vijay-starrer Kavalan , plays the lead in Nandanam .

Will 2012 prove lucky for the duo? Wait and watch.

Kollywood calling

The Tamil film industry seems to be attracting more investors and the latest to join the list are Sadanandan Rangorath and Debobroto Mandal of Lucsam Creations. The two, who have made a name for themselves in Kerala by producing blockbusters such as Salt N Pepper and Nidra , now intend to produce a Tamil film, to be directed by Dhanaram Saravanan, a former assistant of Chimbu Devan.

Harish of Goripalayam fame plays the lead. The others in the cast are Raine Chawla, National-award winner Salim Kumar, Atul Kulkarni, Sharanya and Kalabhavan Mani.
