Actor Jiiva, who is known to do his bit for society, is among those who seem to have realised the power of social networking. The star recently tweeted: “Please share. Heart surgery in India, free of cost for children (0-10Yrs) Ph.no:080 28411500. It might save someone's life! Sharing takes a second!”

Jiiva says: “This message was actually a forward. I thought if I posted it on Twitter, a lot of people who followed me would be able to read it and benefit from it.” Jiiva, who has at least four big films in his kitty, is working on “Neethane En Ponvasantham” (NEP), directed by Gautham Menon, and Mysskin's “Mugamoodi”. After that, he is to work on Bejoy Nambiar's “David”, in which he plays one of the three heroes. The film has three stories in all, and the protagonist of each story is called David.

Discloses Jiiva: “I play a rock band star in ‘David'. My story is set in Bandra, Mumbai, and I will begin work on it after I finish ‘NEP' and ‘Mugamoodi'. After ‘David', I am to work with Ahmed on ‘Endrendrum Punnagai'.”

Summer breaks

The relentless summer heat seems to have had an impact on the work schedules of everyone, including actors. The latest to join the list is actor Vidharth, who shot to limelight with his performance in “Mynaa”. Says Vidharth: “I am working on the film ‘Kaatumalli' directed by Mangaleshwaran. I play a research assistant in this film. We had to shoot a few sequences for the film in a forest. However, as it is summer, and as animals will be coming out of their natural habitat in search of water now, the Forest Department authorities have denied us permission to shoot in forests. So, I thought I might use this time to work on my other film ‘Vaanavedikai' being directed by Pragadheesh. In this film, I team up with Rajkiran, who's making a comeback. Apart from ‘Vanavedikai', which is based on a real-life incident, I also have ‘Vilambaram', being made by twins Ram and Lakshman, who have made at least 50 ad films together.”

Striking gold

The man who seems to have struck it rich in recent times is MKP Anand, who is to next act with Kreshna in his untitled film. It is to be directed by Rajmohan of “Kunguma Poovum Konju Puravum” fame. Kreshna, whose last film “Kazhugu” set the cash registers ringing at the box-office, says: “This untitled film will be a rom-com, and focus on the bond between two brothers. “I play one of the brothers, and the other role is to be played by MKP Anand, a radio jockey. We are still casting for this film and are hoping to start work in the month of May. The film is being produced by B. Pandian.”
