It’s out at last. Kamal Haasan’s much-awaited action entertainer Vishwaroopam has been censored. Sources close to the unit say while the film’s Tamil version has been given an U/A certificate after minor cuts, the Hindi version, which has not suffered any cuts, has been given an A certificate. Although the date of the film’s release has not been finalised, the audio is likely to be released in November. The film, which features Kamal in the lead, has Pooja Kumar, Rahul Bose, Andrea Jeremiah and Jaideep Ahlawat in supporting roles.
Randy’s latest
Director Sukumar, whose Telugu film Arya 2 impressed audiences, is to head to Goa along with his team which includes actor Mahesh Babu, for his yet-to-be-titled film. The director has roped in long-term friend Rathnavelu aka Randy, who has an impressive record, to crank the camera.
Talking to MetroPlus, Randy said, “We will shoot in Goa for 20 days after which we plan to go to Germany and Hungary for a 40-day schedule. A couple of songs will be shot there.”
Meanwhile, the cameraman is all set to turn director next year. “Yes, I am working on a script which should be ready next summer.”
Three at a time
It is not often that the audio CDs of three eagerly-awaited films are being launched on the same day. So, when that happens, it makes news. The audio CDs of Simbu’s Poda Podi , director Seenu Ramasamy’s Neer Paravai and actor Vijay’s Thuppaki are to be launched today. Talking about Thuppaki , sources in the industry claim that the makers are planning to release it on November 9. Meanwhile, it has been confirmed that Vishal’s Samar too will be releasing this Deepavali which means the competition at the box office this festival season will be intense.
Film facilitates reunion
Director Balaji Sakthivel’s Vazhakku En 18/9 , which came in for considerable praise from various quarters, has helped the family members of a lost, mentally challenged child find him.
“The child, Anbu, played a role in my film, which was aired on Vijay TV recently. He plays the neighbour of one of the heroines. The child’s father, a labourer who travels to various parts of the country, lost him on one such trip. The family had given up on the child after searching for him for close to six years. However, on watching the film on TV, the man’s daughter recognised her brother and alerted the family. They in turn got in touch with the TV officials and our manager,” says Balaji.
“We took them to the home. After proving to the authorities that they were his parents by producing the necessary documents, they claimed custody of the child. They have now taken him back to their native place,” says Balaji who is extremely delighted that Anbu has been reunited with his parents.
Sequel titled
Director Manivannan, who is making a sequel to his 1994 blockbuster Amaidhi Padai , has titled it Nagaraja Cholan MA, MLA . Interestingly, this was the name of Sathyaraj’s character in Amaidhi Padai . Sathyaraj and Seeman are to play the lead roles in the film which will also feature Mrithula, Komal Sharma and Varsha as the heroines. Manivannan and his son Raghu Manivannan will also be seen in the film which marks the director’s 50th project.
James Vasanthan is to score the music for the film, which is to be shot in and around Coimbatore in a single schedule.
