The re-release of Sivaji Ganesan’s Karnan showed the trade that the deceased star can pull in the crowds just like the old times. Buoyed by its success, B.V. Murali and C. Srinivasulu of Sai Ganesh Films have digitally restored Sivaji Ganesan’s yesteryear blockbuster Vasantha Maligai in cinemascope. It is ready for release in the theatres on March 8.

When asked if this was simply a smart business decision, Murali said, “See, we are basically Sivaji fans, and we want to do our bit to showcase his talent to the mall-visiting younger generation that doesn’t know enough about him. I believe his talent will be appreciated even in this generation.” Murali has revealed that Sivaji Ganesan’s another hit Puthiya Paravai will be digitally restored and released in 2014, 50 years since its release in 1964.

The success of Karnan , which ran to packed houses in multiplexes, has proved that the younger generation has embraced Sivaji Ganesan, and is ready for more.
