Rajinikanth, in a short letter, extended his gratitude to producer Thanu, director Ranjith and his crew, fans, youngsters, women, the media, theatre owners and distributors, for the grand success of Kabali .

He also used the opportunity to explain his sabbatical to the US. “As I’ve been working non-stop for Ranjith’s Kabali , and Shankar’s 2.0 , I required mental and physical rest. Hence, my two-month trip to the US with my daughter, Aishwaryaa Dhanush, during which time I’ve undergone a few medical tests, and taken a lot of rest,” he wrote. “But now, I’ve returned revitalised and motivated.”

On Kabali’s success, he wrote, “I heard of the film’s success in America, but to see it and experience it in person gives me great happiness.”

He even gave his letter the Kabali stamp by signing off with a ‘magizhchi’.
