Addressing fans for the first time after being discharged from hospital in Singapore where he was undergoing treatment, actor Rajinikanth affirmed that his goal would now be to entertain them.
He promised that he would appear in the K.S. Ravikumar film ‘Rana'.
“I have no words to thank you,” he said in a handwritten note released to the media on Saturday, after apologising for not having spoken to fans earlier. In his characteristic enigmatic manner, he spoke of the practice of tossing a coin to determine who would play first.
In the game that he had to play recently, the world's top specialists and the latest medical technology were on one side, while his fans and their prayers were on the other.
He expressed his (100 per cent) belief that it was the prayers that finally saved him.
“You have showed the world how many people are fond of Rajini. If I am recovering now, it is because of all the love you people have showered on me. It is because you have considered me as a brother, a friend, as one in the family, and prayed for me.”
“I will never forget your love…” the note in Tamil said. “When I put pen to paper words elude me.”
Rajinikanth also mentioned that his first couple of calls had been to Chief Minister Jayalalithaa, who assured him of all support and help, and to his “friend” and former Chief Minister M. Karunanidhi.
The actor had been hospitalised a couple of times in Isabel Hospital and, later, was admitted to Sri Ramachandra Medical Centre before he left for Singapore with his family for treatment.
It was said then that he had a lung infection and problems with kidney.
