Remember police officer Alex Pandiyan, his majestic voice and stylish side burns? For fans of ‘super star' Rajinikanth, ‘Moondru Mugam' was a phenomenon in the early 1980s.
The variety the actor brought to the three roles he played in the film took him to new levels of stardom.
Yet again, Rajinikanth will play three roles in his next project ‘Raana', which brings the Rajinikanth-director K.S.Ravikumar-composer A.R. Rahman combination together after nearly a decade.
For most fans of ‘superstar' Rajinikanth, the films ‘Muthu' and ‘Padaiyappa' made by this combination will invariably figure in the list of all-time favourites. The films came with the stamp of a thorough entertainer with liberal doses of humour and music that made waves.
Though talk of the possible release date of what was originally ‘Sultan the Warrior' kept surfacing in Kollywood every now and then, each time with a new name for the much talked-about animation film, it will possibly follow ‘Raana', sources say.
A few months ago, news about ‘Sultan the Warrior' being readied for release in the name ‘Hara' started doing the rounds. Some believed that K.S. Ravikumar would direct select portions of the film.
However, news about ‘Raana' has now rendered all those talk futile.
Sources also say that ‘Raana' will be produced by the actor's wife Lata Rajinikanth, for Ocher Studios. The full length feature film, will have Bollywood actor Deepika Padukone playing the female lead.
Rajinikanth is also roping in cinematographer Rathnavelu, who worked with him in ‘Enthiran'.
Rajeevan is the art director. Director K.S. Ravikumar whose collaboration with Rajinikanth set new records at the box office, had been working with Kamal Haasan in the last few years, bringing out films such as the hilarious ‘Panchatantiram', ‘Dasavatharam' and the more recent, ‘Manmadan Ambu'.
The director, known for his screenplay, intelligent humour and his cameo roles, can be expected to come up with a complete entertainer that would appeal to both rural and urban audiences, say industry sources.

One and only superstar launch his next feast in the name Raana after the feast of Enthiram. We hope that it will be fantastic film when compared to any other super star film. Thalaivar with combination of K.s and RAHMAN will be a hit film. Thalaivar with Deepika will be a great couple... We hope that Thalaivar will act upto 200 films and more...
I expect a fantastic treat for Rajini fans. Combination with KSR will work wonders. Am a huge KSR fan. That guy has a really good hold of masses and is very fast in his work. So it goes with usual Rajini style. 'Enthiran' and 'Shivaji' were Shankar's films but this one is going to be a perfect Rajini entertainer.
Rajnikant is becoming old and his age factor is to be taken into account by the directors. The failures of Kamal Hasan's recent films is due to his age factor only. Actors who have crossed 60 years wishes to perform the role of heroes when the scores of actors like Surya have come to perform superior and entertaining films, heroes like Rajnikant have to consider the age factor also while accepting to perform future projects. In 'Shivaji', Rajnikant in a dialog says that he spent nearly 20 years in US and he comes to India as a middle aged person. Similarly, in 'Enthiran', the director depicts him as a scientist who has spent 10 years in the project and hence a middle-aged person. This aspect has to be remembered by the Director of of this new RAANA project also.
The combination of Rajni-KSR-ARR will surely create a magic in Indian cinema late this year. Thalaivar rocks as usual....he is the real superstar on screen as well as in true life.
Rajini,KS Ravikumar and maestro A R Rahman are legends and capable of delivering magics on their own. Hope we will get a thorough entertainer from these trio.
Super star and K.S. Ravikumar combination is very wonderful because already Muthu and Padayappa film is record of Tamil film industry.

Who knows " Raana " may surpass Enthiran..
So we will enjoy the typical Rajini flick!
I was just waiting for this combination to happen..!! After all, in my opinion, Shankar has ruined the classic Rajini magic in both Sivaji & Endhiran!!! Both films were Shankar's, rather than Rajini's. I don't want to see Rajini to put dirt on thug's eyes to escape from him (a sequence in the Endhiran)... :) Waiting for the Rajini of yore!!

Good combination of technicians. Request public not to expect entertainment equal to Endhiran but one can expect some thing equal to Muthu or Padaiyappa. One expectation every one can have is since it is K. S. Ravaikumar movie, it should be released fast within a year.
My advance wishes to the thalaivar's next film. Defenitly it will make another record of Indian cinema.
