Prachi Desai.

Prachi Desai.

Prachi Desai, the “Kasamh Se” girl who made her film debut with “Rock On!!”, is back with “I, Me Aur Main”, now playing in theatres. The actor, who was in the Capital recently for the promotion of her film, says, “Delhi is the place I always connect to. I’m here every month but only for work purposes. I would rather chill out in Delhi and have some fun.” Excerpts from an interview:

How would you describe your role in in About your role in “I, Me Aur Main” and how was it acting alongside John Abraham and Chitrangda Singh?

I play Gauri in the film. Her look in the “Na Jaane” song is inspired by Beyonce Knowles. Gauri is a complete freak who brings sunshine to others’ lives with the right attitude. I never had to contemplate over the role, as the character is so much like me. And this one is my best so far.

It is the first time I’ve worked with John and Chitrangda; we make fantastic buddies.

Is this a conscious attempt to shed your girl-next-door image and don a more glamorous one?

Well, I am a versatile actor and would love to be in the shoes of a glamorous doll. I also think item numbers boost an actor’s career. Having done comedy and romance, now I am looking forward to horror and thriller genres as well.

I’m eagerly waiting to be cast in a film that breaks my image of innocence while building a sexy and hot one, like Julia Robert in “Pretty Women”. (Laughs)

What’s your stand on live-in relationships, as the film portrays an urban-centric youth life?

For me, a live-in relationship is the way to make the bond stronger between two individuals. And as far as I am concerned, I’ll always opt for one before getting hitched.

You have been losing weight steadily. Can we expect you in size zero soon?

I have always been a skinny girl. When I just kicked off my career with television, there wasn’t much time to think about my size. But the film industry requires sudden changes with different characters. I’m now more concerned about it and I am in my desired one.

Upcoming films…

I am looking forward to my roles in a couple of films, namely “1920 London”, where I will feature as a princess and get to do everything I’ve ever wanted to do, one with Sanjay Dutt in “Policegirl”, and a Kannada film “Udyan Xxpress”, to be out at the end of 2015.
