So Dibakar Banerjee is collaborating with Yash Raj Films for the first time to direct the period thriller based on Bengali writer Saradindu Banerjee’s popular character — Byomkesh Bakshi. In a contemporary interpretation of war-torn Calcutta during the 1940s, the film will follow the first adventure of Byomkesh, fresh out of college, pitted against an evil genius who is out to destroy the world! Sushant Singh Rajput of Kai Po Che-fame will play the detective. Titled Detective Byomkesh Bakshy , the film will go on floors in January 2014 and release on December 12, 2014.

Tearful performance

Divya Dutta is on a roll. After being praised for her single-mom’s role in Gippi , she has now grabbed attention for her vital role in Rakeysh Omprakash Mehra’s Bhaag Milkha Bhaag . Apparently, the toughie that Farhan Akhtar is, he never gets emotionally disturbed. But Divya’s performance in the film moved him to tears. Apparently, his parents Shabana and Javed Akhtar were also so moved that they congratulated her.

Work-ready!

Kareena Kapoor and Ajay Devgn are both holidaying in London. Ajay is with his family for a long vacation while Kareena is with sister Lolo who brought in her birthday there. But when Prakash Jha decides that Satyagraha ’s first look will be unveiled on a certain date, there is no questioning him. So both his lead actors decided to sacrifice their personal leisure and be part of the first look unveiling — the two were present through video-conferencing.
