The newest comedian making waves in Telugu movies is Vennela Kishore. He has no special brand to flaunt, doesn't move his body much, never tries to be funny, just twitches his eyebrows, gives a scheming expression and comes up with a tongue-in-cheek one-liner that forces a smile on your worst day. Kishore made his presence felt in 14-odd movies but it's just his recent films that have catapulted him to the top league. The youth and 30-plus category specially relate to his lines better. The comedian bares his heart about his limitations, plus points and his debut as a director.

“I hate to be a mere sidekick and be submissive to the hero; I like to be seen as having a one-to-one conversation with him. I love to have my own entry and exit, one that should carry weight. Whatever I've got and I'm trying now is a bonus. If I fail as a director, I have an acting career to bank on, even if that fails I can go back to my 9 to 5 job.,” says Kishore the software professional who made his debut in Vennela .

What made him script a sequel for Vennela ? The actor recollects, “I was in Australia shooting for Orange . The shooting was for 50 days. I didn't know when the director would need me so I stayed put at the hotel; I kept moving the furniture in the room here and there as I was getting bored. Finally an idea struck me and I started writing. I had a bound script by the time I left for India.” Kishore says he had a tough time when it came to naming the film, he knew a sequel means that 60 percent might have seen the original film, so he ended with Vennela One and a half as it sounds unique. Kishore even had the temerity to release a part of his film online and call it a leak. The leaked song had a double entendre and a few very suggestive photos. Isn't it a sign of desperation? Kishore guffaws, “I will not say anything in my defence now, the film will speak for itself. I would call the release an official leak. Seriously it is a raw version of the song and the refined version is totally different. Also the selective leak was because I had my doubts and felt people wouldn't watch my film because there are some huge releases due during the same month. I wanted people to sit up and take notice. The sleazy photo is purely the contemporary version of romance and I don't want kids to watch my film, in fact I would work towards getting an ‘A' certificate. All the songs are just 3 minutes each.”
