Actor Dheer Charan Shrivastav shot to fame as Ismail bhai and now he seems to enjoy his new identity

After winning laurels for his role in Angrez, Hyderabad Nawabs and Hungama in Dubai-Hyderabadi bakra, Dheer Charan Srivastava is ready to enter Bollywood. Who can forget the innocent chicken shop owner, the tea shop owner who is always conned by the two prospective grooms for his daughters or film-makers who manages to talk him into selling his shop and invest the money in their forth-coming movie to be shot in Dubai. Dheer Charan played the characters with ease and is still remembered as the Ismail Bhai.

“Ismail Bhai became my identity and I don't mind being called by that name. The character is innocent and lovable. After that I did a movie called Manorama which was based on the Gokul chat bomb blast issue. The movie was serious one and I was chosen to portray the role of a Hyderabadi there,” says Dheer.

Currently shuttling between Hyderabad and Mumbai, Dheer is busy with a Bollywood project. The details of which he cannot share, but what he is more keen on is the movie called Aisi ki taisi which highlights the issue of aged sheikhs marrying teenage girls from the old city. “In this movie also I play the role of a Hyderabadi. And I am happy people who cast me think I can do justice to the character,” he says.

But Dheer never aspired to be an actor or ever trained in any acting school.

His inspiration has been his father. “My father was a great actor, I think I learnt acting from him and I was unaware about it,” recollects Dheer. After wining the Hyderabadi Cine awards Dheer feels honoured. Besides preparing for his Bollywood stint, Dheer will be soon seen in an Indo-American venture.
