Varun Sandesh and Poorna in a still from the movie

Varun Sandesh and Poorna in a still from the movie

Concept: An entertaining romantic drama, the theme probes into corporate culture and its effects on emotional bonding. When everything in life has become so materialistic, one wonders whether genuine love too fell a victim to it and lost its meaning. The theme focuses on this aspect emphasising that emotional quotient is vital in a relationship.

Director’s take : Producer Induri Rajasekhar Reddy came up with the story idea which is both contemporary and thought provoking. I expanded it into a movie script bringing in two diametrically opposing characters to play the protagonists. The hero, a young technocrat (Varun Sandesh), comes to Hyderabad from USA. He takes life easy and thinks falling in love is just like playing any other game. In his office works the heroine (Poorna) who believes in certain values in life and matters of love. How life turns for the young man when he falls in love with her is an interesting part of the theme that mostly revolves around the heroine’s character. Varun Sandesh had played a lover boy before in many movies, but this one is truly different. I cannot help but use the cliché word — different, but this is one role that he has not done till today. Poorna is an extraordinary artiste and she is brilliant as the girl with principles. Sonia Birjee is in a key role along with Sana and Arun Kumar.

Though they won critical acclaim, the audience felt my two previous films (Mem Vayasuku Vachcham and Priyathama Neevachata Kusalama) lacked entertainment. Now that there is more scope to bring in humour, we signed ‘Vennela’ Kishore, Uthej, Dhanraj, Raghu and Venu to provide the light banter. V.S. Gnanasekhar who had shot for such films as Vedam and Krishnam Vande Jagadgurum handled the camera and Sravan who also worked these movies edits. Their rich experience made Nuvvala… Nenila glossy and slick.

Progress: Shot extensively in various locations in Hyderabad, the movie is presently in its postproduction work at Annapurna Studios. It is slated for release in February 2014.
