Rajesh Pillai’s Motorcycle Diaries will begin rolling in Kolkata on June 1. Two years after his film Traffic signalled a change in Malayalam cinema, the director is back in action with two films – one each in Malayalam and Hindi.
Starring Kunchacko Bobban in the lead, Motorcycle Diaries tells the story of a bike (a Bullet) and covers three decades from 1980 to 2012. “The Bullet’s first owner is Chackochan’s character. Years later, he goes on a journey to trace his bike. The film will be shot in different phases and stars Nivin Pauly too. It marks music director Shaan Rahman’s debut as an actor,” says Rajesh.
Santosh Thundiyil and Aneesh Lal crank the camera for the film. In the meantime, the director will also be working on the remake of Traffic in Hindi, his first film in Bollywood. Manoj Bajpayee and Parambrata Chatterjee are two of the actors in the film.
He has also been signed on to direct Lucifer, a Mohanlal-starrer scripted by Murali Gopy, which will go on the floor by the year-end. Looks like Rajesh is in the fast lanes again.
