Till recently, he had been a college student and now he is in a different avatar, that of an actor. Anjani Kumar nee Anjan graduated in Computer Science from SS Institute of Technology in Dundigal near Hyderabad only recently and joined a software company. Like most youngsters, he is also a movie buff and a great fan of the star. Interestingly he is also related to him his idol- Chiranjeevi’s co-brother K. Venkateswara Rao is Anjan’s maternal uncle. So naturally, the interest to pursue a career in films grew with him. Thanks to his supportive father K. N. Swamy he has realised his dream of playing a movie hero. This briefing about the debut hero was done before we stepped in into his alma mater the SSIT College after a 17-kilometre drive from Kukatpally.

Chenny Chiranjeevi is filming a light-hearted scene on the lead actors – Anjan and Priyanka. Our hero leads a group of students who believe that falling in love is a waste of time. But in this scene he proposes to the heroine. She simply smiles and moves away, without actually saying yes or no. Cinematographer Jagan who had assisted popular cinematographer Andrew shot this scene.

“In the next scene, the elated hero breaks into a duet with the heroine. We filmed the song, ‘galam vesave, yentha gayam chesave,’ under the choreography of Samrat, in Rohtang Pass near Manali in zero degree temperature. Though it was a daunting task that left some of the crew breathless, the result has come out excellently. We filmed the other four songs in Kulu valley, Manali and Shimla.

As for the story it starts in this college. We have a ten-day schedule here. There are two groups of students one led by me and the other group led by Rohan who believes that love is sacred and is sincere in his love. We gave a tag line, ‘love never fails.’ But life after college takes a curious turn as the youngsters are kidnapped one by one leading to an exciting climax. During a long journey by car, I give lift to a stranger (played by comedian Raghava) and this leads to a crucial turn in the tale. I am confident our efforts will win universal acceptance as the narrative is smooth and fresh,” said Anjani Kumar.

Chenny Chiranjeevi is a seasoned co-director who is making his first feature film. Priyanka did a couple of Kannada movies and Bhavya has acted in Teja’s 1000 Abhaddalu. Rohan plays the second lead. Nagendra Babu is cast as the hero’s elder brother and the police officer who investigates the mysterious kidnaps. “Except for the college scenes, the rest of the movie runs on these six characters. The music is appreciated and I am confident that our movie will also be liked,” concluded the debut hero.

The film will hit the marquee in September.
