Priya Mani refused to show up on the radar after her ambitious last release in Tamil Charulatha , in which she played the role of conjoined twins, didn’t really send her stocks soaring as expected. The actor, who hit the headlines for her role in Paruthiveeran , gradually slipped away from scene in Tamil Nadu as she focussed on the Kannada and Telugu film industries. Now, what has put her back on the front page is her association with Shah Rukh Khan’s next big release, Chennai Express , in which the National award winning actor has performed an item song.

Priya Mani, who was in the city as one of the brand ambassadors of Celebrity Cricket League, spoke about the song. “I liked what Rohit Shetty narrated. I shot for the film for about five days.” The initial posters of the film had created a furore on the social network, after they were perceived to be stereotypical of Tamils. Priya Mani allayed any such fears, she said, “From whatever I heard about the film, there is nothing in it to hurt anybody.”

The actor revealed that she has signed a Telugu film Chandi , an action-packed entertainer, in which Samudra plays the lead.

So Priya Mani fans in Tamil Nadu would have to wait a little longer to see her speak Tamil again.
