What it is about…

The story of Yaaruda Mahesh revolves around a lazy youth Siva, who is forced to go in search of a person called Mahesh. A romantic comedy directed by R. Madhan Kumar, the film features Sundeep Kishan, Dimple Chopade, Jagan, Livingston, Uma Padmanabhan, Srinath, Swaminathan and Singamuthu. Gopisundar has composed the music; Raana is the cinematographer; Sathya Narayanan, the editor; and Vanaraj, the art director. The audio of the film was released by directors Arivazhagan, Kumara Raja and Santhakumar, and received by directors Shankar, Karthik Subbaraj, Ranjith and Balaji Tharaneetharan.

Music highlights

There are six songs in the album. Except the title number, all are written by Na. Muthukumar. The title number, written by the director himself and sung by the music director and Anna Katharina Valayil, is good. ‘Puthupaarvai,’ a beautiful duet by Haricharan and Priya Hemesh, comes next. The other songs are ‘Vayadhai Keduthu,’ sung by Suchith Suresan and Anna Katharina Valayil, ‘Odum Onakithu,’ sung by Anna Katharina Valayil and Suchith Suresan, ‘Yemathita’ and ‘Uyire Uyiril’ — the last two rendered by the music director himself.

What they say…

Producers Sathya Narayanan, Nawaz, Antony and Madhan Kumar: Nawaz and I have been media persons for more than 15 years. We also run a post-production studio called Red Post. When we listened to the storyline by Madhan Kumar, we knew we had a winner on hand.

Director R. Madhan Kumar: I did my masters in international business at the Government College, Coimbatore, but filmmaking is always my passion. I moved to Chennai to pursue a career in advertising. I worked for two years as an assistant director to Manikandan, who is now directing Kanna Laddu Thinna Aasaya. After that I set up an ad agency called ‘Fingerprint’ and did a few commercials and corporate films. When I narrated my script to my friends Antony, Sathya and Nawaz, they told me to start shoot immediately. Now that I have wrapped up the film, I am sure of its success.

Hero Sundeep Kishan: I was an assistant to director Gautham Vasudev Menon during the filming of Vaaranam Aayiram. I have acted in Hindi and Telugu films. Yaaruda Mahesh marks my debut in Tamil and I am happy to have acted in it.

Music director Gopisundar: I have composed the music for over 500 jingles and as many as 10 films in Malayalam. I won the Filmfare Award for Best Music Director in 2010. I hope that my compositions for this film will bring more success.
