Talking to Sundeep Kishan is arduous; unless you are attentive you wouldn't understand half of what he's saying. There are no commas and full stops in his lines. Not just in real life, on screen too he replicates this style. The only difference was the audience lapping up his rapidly paced dialogues.
Unimaginable but true, this easy going, chatty youngster who could pass off as a yuppie is suddenly enjoying the attention of the Telugu film industry for his politically ambitious, villainous role as Sai Kumar's son in Prasthanam .
Style of his own
“My mother says the same thing and she's forever asking me to speak slowly, but I guess I have evolved a style of my own,” giggles the actor.
Sundeep Kishan lived all his life in Chennai and moved to Hyderabad just two years ago to make a living out of movies.
His father, a businessman, and mother, who works for All India Radio, had been supportive when he told them that he wanted to work with Gautham Menon as an assistant. So Sundeep worked with the director for Surya s/o Krishnan for a year before he took up Sneha Geetham . Not many know that he's cinematographer Chota K. Naidu's nephew. “My uncle was very happy for me, the day Prasthanam released he was deluged with phone calls from the industry people pitching in support and generous words for my performance. He was a great emotional anchor, and he's someone I always looked up to.”
Sundeep has worked in a Hindi movie, Shor , produced by Ekta Kapoor. The film is due for release in August and has him, Tushar Kapoor and Senthil Ramamurthy (of It's a Wonderful Afterlife ) playing the lead roles in the story said to be on the lines of Yuva .
The filmmakers of Shor saw the rushes of Prasthanam and called him for an audition. There is a Tamil-Telugu bilingual Twenty Twenty on the anvil, being produced by Thyagarajan of Satya Jyothi Films and directed by Chetan.
So what does he do in his spare time?
“I've suddenly become conscious of my health. I eat only subs and greens and I don't drink or smoke. No girlfriends either. I love listening to good music that makes me dance,” says Sundeep.
