Rajesh Khanna.

Rajesh Khanna.

Ode To Anand

Sunsets aglow with

Colourful gas balloons,

Or cleaning utensils

At early sunrise

With a lilting song

To greet the day –

Gaining maturity

Ever so slowly

For a romantic interlude

In noonday hues.

Then waiting for the

Evening far, far away,

Yet intoxicating with

Doe-eyed delights,

Till the moon comes

Up over the horizon,

Like a bride fully

Decked to enchant

Nascent senses while

Life slips into the Jaam.

Night hurries along

After the lamps

Have all died out

And it’s time to

Take the Beloved

In wide-open arms.

Such are the nuances

That come to mind when

One thinks of you, Kaka;

Perhaps still peeping

From the Great Beyond

To see the world go by!
