What it is about…

MKS Films and RR Cine Creations are jointly producing Navarasam with Umesh and Thisha in the lead. Sridhar, Thangam, Balakrishnan and Vikadan play supporting roles. The camera is handled by Chandransami, the music is by Shankar, editing by Karthik, lyrics by A.S. Subramanian, and the screenplay by Manikandan. Right from very first frame showing the murder of a girl, Navarasam makes for a gripping detective thriller.

The story, dialogues and direction are by M.K. Santharam. The audio of the film was released by M. Krishnaswamy, former president, Tamil Nadu Congress Committee, and received P. Muthu, State general secretary, All India Forward Block, Puducherry, in the presence of director-actor ‘Kalaipuli’ Sekaran, actor Vishnupriyan, director Siraj and members of the film unit.

Music highlights: There are four songs in the album. ‘Anthi Manthari’, written by Kovai Dhanapal, is excellently rendered by Velmurugan. The other three songs are written by A.S. Subramaniyan. The first is a beautiful melody ‘Neethan Vizhiyil’, sung by Bharath and Janani. ‘Pogathey Pogadhey’, sung by Ramesh and Priya, and ‘Solla Solla’, pass muster.

What they say…

Producer and director M.K. Santharam: Some years ago, one of my stories was made into a film Raja Veetu Pillai with Jaishankar and Jayalalitha in the lead. Both Raja Veetu Pillai and Navarasam are thrillers. There are nine characters depicting the 9 rasas in the film. I feel Navarasam could turn out to be a box office hit.

Hero Umesh: After my first film Muthal Muthalai in which I played the hero some years ago, Navarasam is my next. When I met screenplay writer and co-director of the film Manikandan, he wanted me to play the hero’s role. As it is a detective story, the hero’s role is important. I feel that the film will take me places.

Music director Shankar: I have earlier scored the music for a Malaysian film Zha featuring Ragav and Prithviraj; this is my second film. I’ve worked hard as music usually plays an important role in a thriller. This prompted the director and producer to add one more song. I’m delighted with the response from all those who have listened to the CD.
