It's not as if only great films deserve a review. A flick need not be a concoction of philosophy, intellect, socio-fancy and a great screenplay.
Teenage emotions
This blockbuster Korean film has a simple concept of a guy being married to a high school girl (as the title sounds) and their lives.
Suh Boeun is an ordinary high school girl who worries about grades and has a crush on her school's baseball team ace.
One day, Boeun's grandfather orders her to marry Sangmin because of a pact he made with Sangmin's grandfather during the Korean War. So they get married and how they get along with one another is what it's about.
You may rush to watch a flick if it features great movie legends or your favourite actors. This film has got one in the girl (Moon Geun-Young) who was just 17 years old when she played the role of Suh Boeun. Her expressions and acting are alluring.
Sometimes you may feel that the film is losing tempo but she mesmerises, pulling you into it with her charm.
It's not the looks; but a beauty of the innocence. In this film, she confesses that she has been very selfish by running a relationship with her husband and having a boyfriend. This has nothing to do with her being a negative character as that's the age for infatuations and this wasportrayed well in the film.
No matter how highbrowed and tough you are, you'll relish this movie.
Bottomline: You don't gain much from this film — no new thoughts or new dimensions, just a couple of hours of entertainment.
