How it happened
I started learning music at a young age, got my first break when I was 15 in a Malayalam film, titled Notebook . Interestingly, it was an English song, which became a hit. My first Tamil song is for Mittai. Sabesh-Murali have scored the music for the film, which is yet to be released. Murali spotted me in a college competition where he chose me as the best singer.
The turning point came when Yuvan Shankar Raja called me to record a song for Theerada Vilayattu Pillai — I was glad when I got a call from his office again to record another song for the same film, a duet with Vijay Yesudas, ‘En Asai Ediraliye'. Till now, I have sung nearly 50 songs in the four southern languages. I graduated in English Literature from Ethiraj College, but I knew from day one that music was going to be my profession and it has come true.
How it felt
Needless to say my excitement knew no bounds. Two songs from Yuvan Shankar Raja in one film — it was like a dream come true. I have been receiving appreciation from all corners.
How life changed
I am busy recording for new as well as popular music directors who have given me some beautiful melodies. I am doing a couple of shows and life is interesting as I am doing what I like the most — singing — I am enjoying every bit of it.
