R.V. Udayakumar who had churned out many hits in Tamil with superstars like Kamal Haasan and Rajnikanth is no stranger to Telugu cinema either. After a sabbatical, he is returning to Telugu films with Mr. Rascal produced by Nekkanti Rama Rao with a script by Paruchuri Brothers. The other day R.V. was filming at Ramanaidu Studios, part of the climax portion on hero Paruchuri Ravindranath, his real life father Paruchuri Venkateswara Rao and his father in the movie, Thanikella Bharani and the hero's love interest Payal Ghosh.

“The climax shoot was completed. What we are filming now is patchwork. You will enjoy watching this lovable rascal,” said Ravindranath. He portrays two different shades in his role, a rich wayward riff raff and the reformed person. The hero's father influence of his corrupt and unruly ways rub onto his son and how a change is brought about in him by the heroine is the interesting point. Prakash Raj plays the hero's uncle. Yesteryear heroes Suresh and Sijju are cast in key roles in the drama along with Ravibabu, Jayaprakash Reddy, ‘Ahuti' Prasad, ‘Telangana Sakunthala' and Jayalalitha while Brahmanandam, Ali, Venumadhav tickle the funny bone.

“Nadeesha Hemamalini is a Sri Lanka model and actress. She makes her debut as the second heroine. Payal Ghosh has potential to prove her prowess in the second half where R.V. created a few heart-touching scenes.”

Ram Gunasekharan who was the operative cameraman for Rajeev Menon for the past many years debuts as a full-fledged cinematographer. “He is brilliant and came up with stunning visuals. John Peter's music for the six songs including one background song is trendy. Most of the first part was shot in Malaysia and Bangkok. And our strong point is the subject,” said a confident Ravindranath. He expressed admiration towards his producer N. Ramarao. “He is a corporate businessman from Delhi. He has a fine sense of film analysis and can read the pulse of all classes of audience.” He produced the movie with B.V. Raju as the executive producer.

‘Mr. Rascal' will hit the marquee in May.
