Heeba Shah, Naseeruddin Shah’s daughter, makes her debut in Malayalam cinema. She is the new heroine of A Pregnant King, T.K. Rajeevkumar’s film on gender and gendered spaces. The shooting of the film begins in the city on March 10.

A graduate of the National School of Drama, Heeba has acted in a few select movies such as Mango Souffle, Haathi Ka Anda and Missed Call. The theatre actress has also appeared on television. She enacted the younger version of the heroine, Dadisa, in the popular Hindi serial Balika Vadhu. Ekant Ke Rang is her solo play.

“We approached her through some friends of ours in theatre and she was happy to be cast in this role that has been inspired by the Indian concept of Ardhanareeshwara and a tale from the Mahabharatha. It is a bi-lingual in Malayalam and English,” says Rajeev.

Naseeruddin had acted in T.V. Chandran’s Ponthanmada with Mammootty. Looks like Heeba is following in her dad’s footsteps.
