New chapter Dia Mirza

Dia Mirza who started her career with the film Rehnaa Hai Tere Dil Mein is all set to turn producer with Love Breakups Zindagi. The young and dynamic actor talks about her experience as a producer and also gives her take on break-ups.

Your debut production isLove Breakups Zindagi. What are the film's views on break-ups?

The film is a celebration of love and life; it also focusses on the pain of break-ups. Its characters experience conflicts in life, which most of us do. But it also holds out a simple promise — after a break-up, there is something better and more beautiful waiting for you.

What is your personal take on break-ups?

Break-ups are a very important part of life. We learn big lessons about love. I am certain that most people who got over a break-up realised soon that there was something better and more beautiful waiting for them on the other side of the spectrum. Zindagi is not just about loving and breaking your heart but also about moving ahead and realising your dreams.

What will be your message to people with a broken heart?

I will only say they shouldn't lose hope because break-ups are the beginning of something wonderful.

You sound quite in love with love.

Love is a beautiful feeling, be it for your parents, siblings, friends or others. Love is an emotion that transcends barriers; it makes and strengthens bonds.

So what motivated you to produce this film?

The script caught my attention — this story is about every individual in this world. People will easily connect to the film and its characters. Also, the comedy is wonderful; it's not flaky. I think this movie has a healthy balance of everything — it's youthful, entertaining and also rooted in the family. I was very excited about it.

Was it easy to act in a film while overseeing its production?

It was so much fun to act in a film I was producing because being a producer I have lived the film a hundred times in my head. By the time I had to enact the part, I was into it completely.

What is easier — acting or producing films?

Both are quite different. When you are an actor, your involvement is restricted to portraying your character; you think about how to bring in new aspects. But when you're a producer, you're involved with every aspect of the film — from preproduction, day-to-day requirements while shooting, to postproduction. A producer's role never ends. I have tried to set right things that I didn't find good.

Are you nervous about how the film will do at the box office?

For the first time in my life, I am not nervous about my film. In fact, there is an excitement, an anticipation to share it with people. It's now about putting the film out there and making everyone watch it.
