Shibani Kashyap has recently sung a jazz version of, hold your breath, Sheila Ki Jawaani! The singer, who got married this February to actor Rajiv Roda, has collaborated with Indo-Bahrain rapper Earl Edgar D’Souza on this unusual choice. She plans to donate the money generated to an NGO. We hear she is buoyed by the response to Sheila Ki Jawaani, and now wants to complete a trilogy of jazz-Bollywood item songs. Her husband has taken to the camera with this one and directed the video.
Exotic, is the word
Priyanka Chopra seems to have hit the nail on the head when it comes to getting international accolades for her new single Exotic . While reviews for the song at home aren’t exactly flattering to put it mildly, it has been making the appropriate noises internationally. In fact, the single has been chosen as the official theme song for the 2013 Guinness International Champions Cup that began this weekend in Spain. Meanwhile, the star has launched ‘The Exotic Shake’ at Millions of Milkshakes in West Hollywood, and apparently fans thronged the place.
A heartfelt tribute
A lot happens in the name of paying tribute to yesteryear stars, and this time it is Mahie Gill who is emulating Meena Kumari, in a special number shot for Satish Kaushik’s upcoming film Gangs Of Ghosts . We hear that Mahie was dressed to look like the actress, and she researched her part by studying her characters in Baiju Bawra and Dil Ek Mandir . Will someone please tell us why the song is called Dil Apna Fokat (Mumbai slang for ‘My heart is for free’)?
