Thaa

All about love

After a slew of films revolving around Madurai comes one set in Coimbatore. Thaa 's hero Srihari is a tough chap who has settled into life in the textile city. Along comes suave Nisha, and life is not the same again. Says director R.K. Suryaprabhakar, who assisted director Samudrakani in Nadodigal: “When Nisha meets Srihari, his life changes. The film is about how she affects his life, and how he tackles the situations that arise because of their love. And, we've tried to realistically depict Coimbatore's unique ‘culture'.”

Chugging in

The long-awaited train has finally chugged into the station. Mediaone Global Entertainment's second production (after Dhaam Dhoom ), Chikku Bukku , stars Arya and Shriya Saran. And, making her debut is Bollywood star Amrita Rao's sister Preetika in a crucial role.

K. Manigandan, who took over from Jeeva (after his untimely demise) and completed Dhaam Dhoom , is the director of Chikku Bukku . “The film is a romantic travelogue that starts in London and ends in Karaikudi. And, we've shot in scenically diverse places such as London, the rain forests in the Western Ghats and rustic Karaikudi.”

The film has music by Hari & Leslie (‘Colonial Cousins').

Getting dramatic

Every year, a three-day drama festival takes place in a village near Madurai. This year, it turned into a six-day event thanks to director Ekadasi. While the public had a gala time, Ekadasi used the opportunity to shoot for his Konjam Veyil Konjam Mazhai , in which hero Tej falls in love with Natchatira from a neighbouring village. Tej and Natchatira face many hurdles but emerge unscathed.

Bringing back the romance

A lyricist has turned to direction, that too inspired by the Valluvar Kottam! “A decade ago, Valluvar Kottam used to be a popular meeting place for young lovers. My film, Valluvar Kottam , starts and ends at this popular landmark, but, during the course of the narrative, meanders through Chennai,” says director Thabushankar. Hero Ashok ( Muruga, Pidichirukku and Vaanam Paartha Seemayilay ) romances Krithika who is from the Kannada film industry. Will Valluvar Kottam resurface as a romantic rendezvous?
