Smooth transition
Director R. N. Saran believes that life between ages 16 and 20 determines the future of a person. “A youth's actions, , good or bad, his conduct and his education determine the way adult life will shape up. ,” says Saran. He has portrayed Siddarth Rajkumar (brother of Telugu actor Prabhas) as an 18-year-old college-goer in his forthcoming film Yuvan . Keeping Siddarth company are new faces Ragul from Delhi and Aishwarya from Bangalore. Saran says the audiences should watch out for excellent songs by Joshua Sridhar and thrilling bike race and fight sequences in the film.
No looking back
He has had the privilege of being launched by Prakash Raj in his Inidhu Inidhu and on the sets of that film was chosen to do the Telugu film Katha . Now with the release of Thenneer Viduthi , Adith Arun's career seems to have taken off. He has also signed two other films, one of which will be directed by Ravi Lalin, who was an assistant to Mysskin. “My theatre background (he has acted in plays by Madras Players, Boardwalkers and others) has taught me a lot. Also, my graduation in journalism during which I made short films with friends has been helpful. One of films we made, Kaathalil Sothappuvathu Eppadi has gone viral and has had lakhs of hits,” says Adith.
In the spotlight
In 2005, she was crowned Miss Trivandrum, following which Iniya (Shruthi as she was known then) did numerous modelling assignments and then award winning Malayalam films such as Dalamarmarangal , Sair a and Umma . About her entry into Tamil cinema, Iniya says, “When I was doing Yuddham Sei director Sarkunam (of Kalavani fame) signed me to do the lead with Vimal in Vaagai Sooda Vaa . In this period film, I am playing a character called Madhi.” who has penchant for both western and Indian dance styles. While the film is in its final post-production stage, Iniya has already started work with hero Arulnidhi in Mounaguru . “I play a medical student in this film,” says Iniya, who has a penchant for western and Indian dance styles.
She does it again
With ten Tamil films (also one each in Telugu and Kannada) under her belt, three in the pipeline besides a Malayalam movie, Sonia Agarwal's second coming has been successful. Meanwhile, Sadhurangam with her and Srikanth, directed by Karu Pazhaniappan, is still awaiting release. Srikanth feels that the film is one of his best efforts. One of Sonia's forthcoming films is appropriately titled Oru Nadigayin Vaakumoolam in which she acts opposite new face Sadan. Directed by N. Rajkrishna, the film deals with the trials and tribulations in the life of an actress. “When I narrated the story, Sonia was interested in doing the character. She went through a lot during her initial days in the film industry, in her marriage and after the separation. Maybe she empathised with the character in Oru Nadigayin Vaakumoolam ,” says Rajkrishna.
Verse and versatility
Poetry is in his blood. Mahakavi Bharathiyar's great, great grandson and son of Rajkumar Bharathi, Niranjan is the fifth generation in the poet's family to take to the pen. Interestingly, Niranjan, a computer engineer, who specialised in marketing management, works in a publishing firm. “But I have always had a leaning towards poetry; I started writing poems at age 16,” says Niranjan “I have now written ‘Kannadi nee, Kanjedai naan' that has been picturised on Vaibhav and Anjali in Mankatha . The song is sung by S P B Charan and Bhavatharani,” says Niranjan, who is also an accomplished mridangam player and loves to sing.
