Itsy bitsy: Silent moves

August 20, 2009 04:10 pm | Updated 04:10 pm IST

After an exhaustive outdoor schedule in Malaysia, director Saran is back in Chennai preparing for further shooting stints in London and Hungary for Sivaji Productions’ Asal. “We have completed almost 40 per cent of the film. The song compositions are over and Bharadwaj will commence recording them in London and Hungary; probably while we are there for the next shooting schedule. As for the film, and particularly the character played by Ajith, I can only say, it is going to be explosive and will explain our tag line: The Power of Silence. I can’t say more as I believe my ‘power of silence’ will help the film prove its worth,” says Saran.

Stepping stone to success

Producer Ugin Anbu’s maiden venture, Nakshatra Movie Makers’ Nellai Pattanam (named after a vast township being developed in Tirunelveli by Anbu), is being made in four languages — Tamil, Telugu, Malayalam and Hindi. It has just completed a gruelling 25-day schedule at Kanyakumari, Tirunelveli and Kerala with newcomer Udhay and Malayalam actor Sowbarniga. Says Director J C J Sujith who is doing a Tamil movie for the first time, “The movie focusses on the hard work and determination of a poor boy, which takes him to great heights. There are impediments in his way, including a love failure; but he overcomes all that and becomes successful.” Says Anbu, “I plan to produce one good film every year and this maiden venture will be my stepping stone to success.”

At full speed

After Dhaam Dhoom, Media One Global Entertainment is on a shooting spree to complete its second home production, Chikku Bukku. The music by Hari-Leslie is complete and almost 50 per cent of the production is over. Says Suryaraj Kumar, managing director and producer, “Apart from Arya and Shriya, we are introducing Bollywood actor Amrita Rao’s sister Preetika in a key role. And, we will be off to foreign shores soon to complete most of the remaining schedules.” Following the lukewarm response to their joint production, Modhi Vilayadu, Media One will surely go all out to make this a winner. For Preetika, this will be an appropriate launch vehicle. Says Preetika, “I have almost finished my 40-day schedule in the film, and Shriya Saran is shooting for her part now. Chikku Bukku is Media One Global Entertainment’s high scale production venture, which makes it a prime project to be part of, with no compromises on the budget. It’s a dream project for any newcomer!”
