Delhi boy Ayush Saini on assisting Rakeysh Omprakash Mehra

July 17, 2013 07:29 pm | Updated 07:29 pm IST - NEW DELHI:

Cinema is not just about the director and the stars. There is a huge crew of assistants who help in bringing the director’s vision come alive on screen. One of them is young Delhiite Ayush Saini, who assisted Rakeysh Omprakash Mehra on Bhaag Milkha Bhaag . A student of law at Vivekananda Institute Of Professional Studies, Ayush started his career by acting in ad films of McDonald’s and Hero Honda. Then he assisted Remo D’Souza on Any Body Can Dance .

“You can do anything if you have passion for something. I have never pursued any technical course, I have learnt from my experience by working on the sets with intelligent people,” says Ayush adding colleges should support extra-curricular activities. “Remo D’ Souza is a humble person. I was the Chief Art Assistant. It was fun working in a different film like ABCD where I got to know Prabhudheva.”

In Bhaag Milkha Bhaag , he worked as 3rd Assistant Director. “My work was to do the minor casting, handle the athletes, manage the extras and maintaining the continuity.”

He says it was not an easy film to make. “It needs a lot of strength and hard work to make it a reality in terms of scale.” He finds Rakeysh Omprakash Mehra very sorted. “He is clear in his head about what he wants. I have never seen him shouting unnecessarily.” From actors to spot boy, says Ayush, everybody has worked hard on the film.
